As we continue on our Lenten journey we are focusing on forgiveness. On Ash Wednesday, Mr. Rogers asked us to think of a line from the prayer "Our Father". He asked us to reflect on "forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us". Some people have brought in some Walkathon money. We have raised $125 already. More people are bringing in money on Monday and that's when will figure out the total amount raised.
Our class had a lot of fun in Math this week. We got to work in pairs to try and figure out how many different ways you can make a dollar, and how will you know that you have found them all. We talked about the strategy of MAKING AN ORGANIZED LIST. We have also been working on multiplication and division. We have been using manipulatives to make equal groups.
Our writing focus this week has been persuasive writing. We have been working very hard on writing a piece to convince our friends in Virginia to come and visit Ottawa in the winter. We will be Skyping with the students in Virginia on Monday. Some students are using Google Slides to create their brochure, some people are using bitstrips or book creator and some people are writing it out themselves.
In reading we have been learning about inferring. We discovered that clues from the text plus your schema (background knowledge) = Inference. We will continue to work on this reading strategy next week.
In Science we continue to work on forces and motion. We have been learning about friction.
In gym we played a fun game called catching relay. It was a blast.
The school had a lot of indoor recesses this week because it was so cold. Hopefully next week will be warmer.
